Great week before the start of another round of iv, oral, and, inhaled antibiotics. Three weeks on ivs and a month of inhaled colistin. Faaaabulous. Just in time for vampire weekend, friends visiting, and warm weather!

1 year and 4 months
Joey and I have been married for one year and four months today! Right after we eloped Andrew's dad told us that every month on our anniversary we should do something to celebrate. We have not missed a month yet. Sometimes we do big things like gifts and going out to dinner and other months it's just a card and spending the day together. No matter what it is, I look forward to it as a way to spend quality time and escape life stress.
Today we are going to try to go downtown to use the massage gift certificates that a friend gave us a few weeks ago. Money has been tight since our move so we are not planning anything else extravagant.
Yesterday we went downtown and got a David Sedaris book from a local used book shop, the Dawn Treader, and a fresh lemonade from Jerusalem Garden. The worst part about spring in Ann Arbor? The freaking people!! Summer can't come soon enough. Soon students will leave and we can wander without constantly being pushed out of the way by loud (and sometimes drunk) co-eds. Ahhh summer your possibilities make me giddy...

deers
Yesterday on our walk through county farm park we saw a very skinny whitetail. We walked up to it and it stood about 30 feet in front of us and just watched us for about a minute. Emmie was whining and I think it didn't really know what to do so it walked slowly back into the woods.
Then I told Joey about the time Bill and Andrew came to bust me out of the hospital for a while and we saw a doe and her fawn grazing in a field that had just been mowed. The boys stayed back and I started slowly walking towards the doe and picked up some grass, held it out, and she walked right up and ate some from my hand. It was probably one of the most surreal experiences I've ever had.
Today it is raining so there will be no wildlife encounters.

Summer Fun in the Works
Joey and I have decided on a trip around Michigan at the beginning of August! Two weeks of camping, sight-seeing, and fun! I am VERY excited. I just hope that we can make it through with little to no illness and enough money to not stress out.
We are going to see Vampire Weekend with another couple in June, right before another couple friend's wedding. It is going to be a packed summer.
We are finally getting settled into our new house (just a rental but still an upgrade) and love our neighbors. It is nice to have people who say hello and look out for you without really knowing anything about you. We have been taking walks around the neighborhood with Emmie (our pibble) and it is great for all of us. I also try to walk at least a mile with Jesse on the days I work (Wednesday and Saturday).
I have been staying busy trying to avoid antibiotics and working with Jesse. It gets stressful sometimes and I will admit I have melted down more than once this week. I have decided to try to go more low-carb in order to keep my sugars more stable. My goal for May is to have an average blood sugar under 150. It's hard, especially when eating out. I am finding that coffee is a big challenge as well. Even "sugar-free" coffee makes my sugar spike and I'm not sure what to do about it other than avoid it but I LOVE coffee as long as it is riddled with milk and sugar....
I'm looking forward to going on another walk with Joey and Emmie once I finish my vest then board games with friends later. Trying to stay busy to avoid the inevitable crash... wish me luck!
